Scholarships

Each year, Tar Heel leagues, Inc. awards four scholarships to worth applicants.   We know of no other youth sports organization that awrds this many scholarships.

Harold M. "Buck" Gaines Memorial Scholarship

Bob Hales Memorial Scholarship

Gary Taylor Memorial Scholarship

Brenda & Dennis Maidon Honorary Scholarship

The following criteria must be met by those who apply:

1. Involvement with Tar Heel Leagues, Inc., either present year of past years.

2. Be a High School Senior with a minimum 2.0 GPA, eligible for graduation in June of the current year, OR a Freshman in college with a minimum 2.0 GPA with plans to continue in college the following year.

3. Submit applicaiton with a current grade transcript by May 15.

4. Submit a minimum 250 word essay on "What Youth Sports Have Meant to Me".

5. Submit a list of extracurricular activities and/or interests, i.e, clubs, sports, church, scouts, or other experiences or accomplishments.

6. Write a short paragraph teling the school you plan to attend and your lans for the future.

7. Submit one letter of character reference from someone other that a family member.
